Why Is Refurbishing Better for the Environment?

We all hear about the impacts of our lifestyle choices on the environment. It’s on the news everywhere. We also believe that more could be done to help people make sustainable choices. So, you’ve chosen to refurb your kitchen? But want to do it more in an eco-friendly way? Well, we can help you with that today! Read on for a few tips on how to be more sustainable and do your bit for the environment.

Reduce your waste

By choosing to refurb something, you are using what you’ve got and making it look newer. So instead of ripping out your current kitchen units and cabinets, keep and re-use the ones you already have. By doing this you’ll reduce your carbon footprint in two ways:

  • Not using new materials
  • Less trips to a recycling centre

Saving natural resources

When you use what you already have you’re saving planet Earth. Did you know that every second we lose a forest the size of a football field. It’s a shocking statistic. So instead of buying new kitchen units and cabinets modernise the ones you have by updating them. This not only saves money, but by refurbishing kitchen units, kitchen cabinets and dining tables, etc it means less trees being cut down and again, less waste going to landfills. Which makes the entire project much more sustainable.

Water-based paints

If you want to go that extra mile by helping the environment, choose to use water-based paints rather than a standard can of paint to use on kitchen cupboards. Water based paints have less VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). There are lots of brands to choose from out there and we use a lot of those brands, if our customers ask us to.
